Electoral Bonds Data: On the orders of the Supreme Court, State Bank of India (SBI) has given complete information related to electoral bonds to the Election Commission. According to the data received from the Election Commission, SBI has given all the information about who donated, who took the donation and what is the amount of donation. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has emerged as the biggest beneficiary of electoral bonds.
According to the Election Commission data, a total of 487 companies donated to BJP, out of which the top 10 companies donated Rs 2119 crore. Which is highest compared to others. The party has received donations of more than Rs 6000 crore from electoral bonds in the last four years. This is 35 percent of the electoral bonds of Rs 6,060 crore redeemed.
Which company donated how much to which party?
1. According to the data released by the Election Commission, Hyderabad-based Megha Engineering donated Rs 584 crore, Quick Supply donated Rs 395 crore and Future Gaming donated Rs 100 crore to BJP.
2. Data shows that donor number 1 Future Games and Hotel Services Limited funded only Rs 100 crore to BJP. While three-fourths of its Rs 1,368 crore was divided almost equally between Trinamool Congress (Rs 542 crore) and DMK (Rs 503 crore).
3. Donor No. 2 Megha Group emerged as the top donor for both BJP and Congress. Of the bonds worth Rs 1,192 crore purchased by the group, BJP got almost half i.e. Rs 584 crore, while Congress got Rs 110 crore.
4. Donor No. 3: Four companies of Kolkata-based MKJ Group bought bonds worth Rs 617 crore, of which BJP got Rs 372 crore, while Congress got Rs 161 crore and Tanmool Congress (TMC) got Rs 47 crore.
5. Eight companies of RPSG purchased bonds worth Rs 584 crore, making the group the fourth largest donor. The group’s four top companies – Haldia Energy (Rs 377 crore), Dhariwal Infrastructure (Rs 115 crore), Philips Carbon (Rs 35 crore) and Crescent Power (Rs 34 crore) together bought bonds worth Rs 561 crore. Out of this, Trinamool got Rs 419 crore, BJP got Rs 126 crore and Congress got Rs 15 crore.
6. Donor number 5 was Aditya Birla Group which purchased electoral bonds worth Rs 553 crore. The top three companies of the group – Essel Mining (Rs 225 crore), Utkal Alumina International (Rs 145 crore) and Birla Carbon (Rs 105 crore) gave bonds worth Rs 475 crore. Out of this, BJD got Rs 245 crore and BJP got Rs 230 crore.
7. The next name in the list is that of Quick Supply Chain Private Limited, a subsidiary of Reliance Industries Limited, which gave bonds worth Rs 410 crore. Out of this, BJP got Rs 375 crore and Shiv Sena got Rs 25 crore.
8. The seventh largest buyer of bonds was Vedanta Limited which spent Rs 401 crore. Out of which BJP got Rs 227 crore while Congress and BJD got Rs 125 crore and Rs 40 crore respectively.
9. Four companies of Bharti Group bought bonds worth Rs 247 crore. Top donor Bharti Airtel Limited spent Rs 183 crore on bonds. Out of this, BJP got Rs 197 crore. Jindal’s 4 companies donated Rs 192 crore in bonds. The biggest buyer, Jindal Steel and Power, spent Rs 123 crore. In this, BJD got Rs 100 crore, while Congress and BJP got Rs 20 crore and Rs 3 crore respectively.
10. Ahmedabad-based Torrent Group donated Rs 184 crore through three companies. The largest donor, Torrent Power Limited, spent Rs 107 crore. Of this, BJP got Rs 107 crore, while Congress and AAP got Rs 17 crore and Rs 7 crore respectively.
